Argentina Looks to El Salvador for Insights on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Regulation
May 27, 2024
Argentina is seeking to gain insights from El Salvador's experience with Bitcoin adoption and cryptocurrency activities. The National Securities Commission (CNV) of Argentina held discussions with El Salvador's National Commission of Digital Assets (CNAD) to explore crypto adoption and regulation. During the meeting, CNV president Roberto Silva and CNAD president Juan Carlos Reyes exchanged ideas on cryptocurrency use in global economies, particularly focusing on El Salvador's pioneering move to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in September 2021. CNV vice president Patricia Boedo highlighted the importance of collaborating with El Salvador to develop efficient regulations. This collaboration follows Argentina's recent efforts to regulate its local cryptocurrency market, including passing registration requirements for crypto firms in April.
