Dolce & Gabbana Faces Class-Action Lawsuit Over Alleged NFT Delivery Delays Resulting in Significant Value Loss
May 17, 2024
Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana is facing a class-action lawsuit alongside digital assets platform UNXD after a customer, Luke Brown, alleged significant delays in receiving non fungible token (NFT) products, resulting in a 97% loss of their value. The lawsuit claims that Brown purchased "DGFamily NFTs'' from Dolce & Gabbana, a product combining digital and physical assets, which were delivered over a week late, causing their value to plummet by $5,800. Additionally, a set of accompanying "outfits" for the NFTs, intended for display in the metaverse, was further delayed by 11 days. Brown filed the suit on behalf of all customers who experienced similar delays, accusing Dolce & Gabbana and UNXD of failing to fulfil promises made during the transaction. This case underscores the challenges companies face as they navigate the transition from physical to digital assets, particularly in the evolving landscape of NFTs and blockchain technology.
