The Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) is actively promoting blockchain engagement in Africa, particularly through the DecaHack event held at the University of Ibadan. The initiative, led by Adedayo Adebajo, co-founder of ICP Hub Sahara, focuses on nurturing young talent and enhancing global competitiveness by encouraging Nigerian youths to embrace blockchain technology. The DecaHack event includes online blockchain boot camps, hackathons, and stage pitch competitions, providing a platform for innovation and collaboration among students from various universities across Nigeria.At the event, Ucheena Agams, a Web3 ambassador for Arbitrum, highlighted the potential of Web3 technologies to bridge the interoperability gap between different blockchain platforms, emphasising the importance of front-end development in making blockchain technology accessible and user-friendly.The top five startups from the competition will receive up to $25,000 in equity-free grants and advance to the national grand finale. This initiative aims to position Nigerian youths for success in the global digital economy, fostering technological innovation and contributing to nation-building efforts​.
