Serenity Shield Token Plummets After MetaMask Breach
Feb 28, 2024
Following a breach in one of the team's MetaMask wallets, the token associated with Serenity Shield, a self-described "crypto inheritance" solution, experienced a significant drop of nearly 99%, resulting in approximately 6.9 million SERSH tokens valued at $5.6 million being compromised. Serenity Shield promptly confirmed the exploit in a February 27th announcement, subsequently suspending all trading activities, deposits, and withdrawals of SERSH on centralised exchanges as a precautionary measure. The project announced plans to relaunch SERSH with a new token contract, emphasising their commitment to safeguarding the community's interests and mitigating exposure to such security incidents. Additionally, Serenity Shield assured its community that it is actively working to redeploy all liquidity to new smart contracts and will replenish any liquidity lost due to the exploit, though no specific timeline for relaunch was disclosed.
