Solana Foundation Takes Action Against Validators Involved in Sandwich Attacks
Jun 10, 2024
Recently, Solana Foundation has taken decisive action against validator operators involved in sandwich attacks targeting traders. These attacks exploit the mempool system to place orders before and after pending transactions, ensuring retail investors receive unfavourable prices while attackers profit from price differentials. Following this discovery, the Foundation has removed these validators from its delegation program, emphasising a zero-tolerance policy towards malicious activities. Tim Garcia, Solana's validator relations lead, underscored that such behaviour, including using private mempools for attacks, violates program rules and harms Solana users. The Foundation's delegation program, designed to support validators with SOL tokens for staking, aims to ensure fair and secure transactions.
