After a 16-month delay on testnet, the Stellar Development Foundation has launched Stellar smart contracts, marking the beginning of what it describes as "a new era" for its technology. The announcement came following the successful introduction of the "Protocol 20" upgrade by Stellar network validators. This upgrade enables new smart contract capabilities and initiates the phased rollout of the Soroban smart contract platform.
