Thunder Terminal Recovers After $240,000 Hack: Promises Full Refunds and Enhanced Security
Dec 28, 2023
Hackers recently attacked Thunder Terminal, an online trading platform, and stole $240,000. They took 86.5 Ether and 439 Solana in just nine minutes. The hackers used a technical loophole called a "MongoDB connection URL" to access user accounts and take their money. Thunder Terminal quickly reacted by blocking access to these loopholes and protecting users' accounts. Fortunately, only 1% of users were affected. Thunder Terminal promised to refund all the lost money and provide credits to affected users. They have also contacted law enforcement and are conducting a technical audit to improve security. In 2023, crypto hacks decreased by over 50%.
