Uniswap CEO Urges Biden to Reconsider Crypto Policies Ahead of Elections
May 13, 2024
Hayden Adams, the CEO of decentralised exchange Uniswap, has urged President Joe Biden to reconsider the impact of his administration's cryptocurrency policies on voters as the November elections approach. Adams warned that Biden's current stance, influenced by Senator Elizabeth Warren and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), could alienate crypto-focused voters and bolster support for Republicans. Since taking office, Biden has initiated regulatory efforts in the crypto space, including appointing Gary Gensler as SEC Chair, leading to increased enforcement actions against crypto firms. However, critics argue that the SEC's approach lacks consistency and clarity. Recently, the House of Representatives voted to overturn an SEC rule, highlighting growing discontent with the administration's handling of crypto regulation. As the elections draw nearer, pressure mounts on Biden to address these concerns to avoid potential backlash from the crypto community.
