Uniswap Reveals Holdings and Prepares for Fee Mechanism Vote Amid SEC Scrutiny
May 26, 2024
The Uniswap Foundation has disclosed its holdings of $41.41 million in fiat and stablecoins, along with 730,000 UNI tokens, as of the end of the first quarter. During this period, the foundation committed $4.34 million in new grants and disbursed $2.79 million in previously committed grants. On-chain voting for a proposal to establish a new fee mechanism is scheduled by May 31, aiming to implement autonomous fee collection and distribution in Uniswap v3 pools. Upon approval, control of the mainnet UniswapV3Factory will transition to a new V3FactoryOwner contract, marking a milestone in decentralised governance. Despite SEC scrutiny, Uniswap Labs asserts its decentralised protocol is beyond the SEC's jurisdiction. The proposal aims to share protocol fees among UNI token holders who stake or delegate their tokens, fostering active engagement and community participation within the Uniswap ecosystem.
