The SlowMist founder has warned about a new type of scam targeting crypto assets using fake conferencing software. The scam involves impersonators posing as job recruiters or business associates, who lure victims into downloading malicious software during a fake Zoom interview. A crypto user, maxlin.eth, reported encountering this scam, where the attackers claimed to be from the human resources department of a legitimate company, xLabs. They conducted a convincing interview but later asked the victim to switch to a different video conferencing app, which was actually a malware-laden program designed to steal crypto assets​ . This tactic was also seen in an incident involving the MonoSwap platform, where hackers tricked a developer into installing malware that allowed them to access and withdraw staked liquidity​.
